Senior Consultant,
Grant Thornton UK LLP

February 2016 - January 2018

London, UK

While I was at Grant Thornton I worked on client engagements at various clients including the high profile HSBC global financial crime program and the regulatory ring fenced banking change at Barclays.

Skilled Person Office (SPO),
Barclays Ring-fencing Project

March - November 2017

London, UK

The ring fencing review was mandated by the UK regulator and was devised in response to the financial crisis. It was a very demanding regulatory assessment which impacted all bank operations. We were required to assess which (if any) of the Bank’s employees, suppliers, shareholders or any other party would be adversely impacted by the proposed new entity structure.

I was a member of the SPO team, responsible for reviewing and finalising material prepared for the Scheme Report (which was submitted to the Financial Conduct Authority). Significant contributions focused on:

1. Optimising report output and analysing key themes,

2. Reviewing the report structure / format to ensure consistency and concise messaging prior to regulatory submission.

Global Banking & Markets Global Standards Regional Deployment Lead, HSBC

April – October 2016

London, UK

The Global Standards program was principally led from London and was charged with uplifting Financial Crime (FC) controls across all global regions, in response to a deferred prosecution agreement with the US Department of Justice. I was accountable for deploying all Governance, Reporting and Transaction Monitoring initiatives to thirteen countries across Europe. Examples of FC changes deployed included line of business procedure updates, an enterprise negative news screening system deployment and implementation of FC local governance requirements. My role involved managing stakeholders in the Global Banking & Markets (GBM) team, European in country execution leads, in-country FC and Business Risk teams, as well as UK GBM product heads.

I was responsible for:

1. Reviewing, understanding and developing initiatives for European deployment,

2. Chairing regional calls, communicating upcoming initiatives and working with country leads to ensure requirements were implemented,

3. Providing sign off on deployment by evidencing that projects / processes were been embedded locally.
